Twainy (responding to the Star Wars II comments) Sez:

"Shadow Dog, tell Dexx that Twainy says to BITE HER BUTT!

1) Didn't give a rats ASS about the politics ... this is a SCI-FI FILM not a political documentary!

2) Hmmm I didn't really think the romance was cheesy ... it was LAME! They had NO connection, spark, charisma with each other! I left the theater not giving a SHIT if they got together or not! In the first 3 movies you were hoping that Han and Leah would get together. WHO cares if Han was childish? Many men are!! Leah was obnoxious and bossy ... does that mean she can’t get laid! ;o) You saw their charisma. They clicked and I still think even with the cheese factor (as those first 3 are a 100 years old) ... that there still was something real about them! The characters/acting in the new romance is FLAT! Emotionless. Not bigg screen at all. Maybe I missed something in the books or something that would help me identify with their plight and love? NOPE! Hated that so called romance! BUTTT since HE IS DARTH VADER we probably aren't really supposed to like him. BUTTT if you DO relate to him, his romance, his dreams you can empathize with him ... making these movies at least worth while! I don't care about any of the characters so far! That is probably why I am not foaming at the mouth for the next movie like I was for the first 3!

3) The acting in the first 3 was OK and the lines were delivered (& the acting was performed) in the spirit of the day. Have you seen any other SCI-FI movies from that era? They all were like that! But at least the characters were charismatic! Annie is just a little too creepy to be liked. I mean even Hanibal Lecter had a sort of perverse appeal. These actors SUCK! Actually not all of them do ... just the main leads ... Annie and the girl. Christopher Lee rocked and loved his cheese! Obi Wan had some great moments on screen also ... along with Yoda, C3PO and R2! But this movie shouldn't be held up by the supporting cast, computer animation and puppets. In 20 years people will consider the best of the best that we watch today ... movies we do NOT consider cheesy today ... well they will consider them CHEESY in 20 years!

I love cheese!!! I LOVE Dr Who! BTW .... the new Dr Who movie featuring the 8th Dr can stand up to nearly any Star Trek TNG episode that is out today! When you think of Dr Who you are thinking of a BBC TV show from the 1960's-70's that was on a LIMITED crappy BBC budget! So don't you dare diss Dr Who! ;-) Those stories get by on the SCI-FI factor & stories alone! No sex! No romance! No swear words! No drugs and alcohol! No party/orgy scenes! They are just good sci-fi stories!! I would rather watch a sci-fi show with shaking sets (Hmmm I can think of another show that was in production around the same time as Dr WHo that had bad sets STAR TREK ... I am sure there are others .... it was just a sign of the day!) then some suped up sci-fi movie with lame actors and gratuitous sex, swear words and nudity!!!

TEE

How was that for a rebuttal? Take THAT evil DOG!! TEE!!"

Shadow Dog Sez:

Ouch! I'll pass those comments along. :-P As for ME being evil? Well, I wasn't going to announce this just yet but Darth Shadow is going to appear in Episode III and someone you know is going to be playing him! :-P~~~~~~

Tres Bizarre Sez:

For pete's sake, when are you going to do part two of Gateway to the god Machine!

Shadow Dog Sez:

Dexter says he'll get around to it before the next Summer Olympics or he'll volunteer to be a clay pigeon in the skeet shooting final.

Blinker (responding to Civ III rant about the cheating computer) Sez:

I think I can answer one of your questions on the Civilization page. You weren't dreaming when you noticed a battle having the same outcome over and over. However, this is apparently a deliberate feature to prevent cheating:

=====

8. Randomizer seeds. I admit that the fact that I can't reload the game to get a more favorable combat outcome really frustrates me sometimes. It also liberates me from feeling like I have to play a perfect game just to win, so I don't waste time reloading constantly. The randomizer seeds make the game much more challenging in a welcome way.

=====

In other words, the results ARE random, but they're calculated using a set number (the seed) assigned at the start of each game.

According to the official site, though...

http://www.civ3.com/patches.cfm

...as of version 1.21F, there is an option to turn this feature off
somewhere in the preferences. (Don't ask where, I don't even have this game! I'm too busy flying a paper airplane in "Glider"! 7:-P)

Shadow Dog Sez:

Thanks Blinker!! Not only have you humiliated Dexter for his paranoia that everyone is out to cheat him, but you've saved him hours of trying to cheat!

You Da Man!! :-P
