Superior Student

Attending Brookdale Community College has been a pleasant learning experience. Since many people have discouraged me from becoming a productive member of American society, due to my physical disability, it was a strenuous struggle to explore my career and educational opportunities. As soon as I enrolled in college level classes, I knew exactly how I wanted to contribute my ideas and talents to society. Earning A's and B's inspired me to keep striving to reach my long-term goals because I had gained the freedom to express my knowledge. Other people's negative opinion did not bother me anymore as I slowly realized that I had complete control of my life.

When I do receive my bachelor's degree and Ph.D. in psychology, I would love to become a psychologist for the physically challenged. Since I have lived with a severe case of Cerebral Palsy for the past 25 years, I have witnessed and personally experienced a lot of human suffering. Furthermore, I have a strong desire to counsel young physically challenged adults on a regular basis. Encouraging these people to advocate for their rights and to demand to be recognized as intelligent human beings may build my character and enhance my wealth of knowledge. This may be difficult, and perhaps frustrating at times. However, my life has been difficult and frustrating at times.

Assisting the physically challenged population will be fulfilling and rewarding. I have always strongly believed that one person can make a difference. If I did not pursue my long-term goals, I would not be here with my Associate's Degree.
