Online learning is no longer considered a fairly new activity, because it has grown rapidly in colleges and in workplaces. Most people think of learning and teaching as things that occur in traditional classrooms. With online learning, the virtual classroom is your computer. There is no more fighting traffic or missing class because your boss asked you to work late. Save some gas money! Although learners work more or less independently, there is still interaction between people. You do not need to be a computer expert either. What is needed is patience and diligence. Many problems can be avoided if the learner reads the screen information carefully. Your teacher will certainly help you with the learning process. Take your time and do it right!
With online learning there is the expectation that learners will be honest. The work you hand in must be your own. This is the law of the college. Plagiarism is inexcusable. You will also be given deadlines in handing in assignments. It is important to turn in your assignments on time. Expect that your grade will be lowered if you fail to meet assigned deadlines.
When we speak about participation, we mean active engagement in the assignments. We expect you to read postings carefully and reply in such a way that you convince the instructor that you have "connected" with the topic. In discussions, avoid short, unproductive statements like: "I agree!" and "Good idea!" Also, try to stay focused on the issue rather than go off on a tangent. Discussions work best when we stay connected. If you do some real research on a topic before commenting, that usually goes a long way towards a better grade. (Just make certain that the source of the information that you cite is credible, and not just a student opinion paper posted on a vanity web site. Never plagiarize; cite your sources, ideally in American Psychological Association format. Check formatting at www.apa.org).

The annotated bibliography is separate from the research paper. An annotated bibliography is an alphabetical list of your research paper's references (articles / books / web sites). For each reference, you must write a short summary in your own words.
Your research paper must include a running head, title page, and Table of Contents.
Your Table of Contents must have:
Introduction - Introduce your topic.
Literature Review - Discuss what authors think about your topic.
Conclusion - Summarize your paper. You can include your own opinions.
References - List your articles / books / web sites in alphabetical order. Do not include summaries.
