SANTA CLAUS
IS COMING TO TOWN

The song was written in 1932 by J. Fred Coots and Haven Gillespie. However no one would publish it because it was considered to be a kiddie song. Finally, it was recorded in 1934 by Eddie Cantor after much persuasion by his wife and became a big hit. Everyone now-a-days knows why you'd better not pout or cry in the days preceeding Christmas!

Oh, you'd better watch out!
You'd better not cry!
You'd better not pout!
I'm telling you why:
Santa Claus is coming to town!

He's making a list.
He's checking it twice.
He's gonna find out who's naughty or nice.
Santa Claus is coming to town.

He sees you when you're sleeping!
He knows when you're awake!
He knows if you've been bad or good,
So be good, for goodness sake!
Oh, you'd better watch out!
You'd better not cry!
You'd better not pout!
I'm telling you why:
Santa Claus is coming to town.

Little tin horns, little toy drums,
Rooty-toot-toot and rummy-tum-tums:
Santa Claus is coming to town.

Little toy dolls that cuddle and coo,
Elephants, boats and kiddie-cars, too:
Santa Claus is coming to town!

The kids in Girl-and-Boy-Land
Will have a jubilee!
They're gonna build a toyland town
All around the Christmas tree.
Ohh..You'd better watch out!
You'd better not cry!
You'd better not pout!
I'm telling you why:
Santa Claus is coming to town!
