Xi Iota Omega Chapter
Oak Ridge, Tennessee

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated

Sorors,

Thank-you for giving me the opportunity to serve you as Basileus of Xi Iota Omega Chapter. I will strive to help our Chapter maintain the standard that has already been set. To do this I will need your help and support. When I fail, we all fail. This Chapter has set a standard that sets it above the rest. Iam looking forward to maintaining and exceeding this standard.

I would also like to take an opportunity to welcome back home Sorors Rachael Thompson and Gussie Cherry. Reactivations within our chapter have been great.

We are almost at the end of 2005 and about to start a new year. The 2005-2006 Debutante Program was successfully kicked off, and our Chairperson, Soror Connie Dunn, is doing a super job. Soror Ella DuBose did an exceptional job with the October Sisterly Relations activity and we look forward to the next one. Under Soror Dot Jones leadership, the Ivy Reading AKAdemy has been an exceptional program and Soror participation has greatly improved. Soror Kowetha Davidson lead another successful Coat and Sweater Day activity. Soror Rose Weaver and Marva Softly guided us through yet another successful Ethnic Food Tasting. The Annual Golf Tournament was awesome and the Soror participation was great. The net proceeds from this event will help to ensure the success of scholarships and continuation of chapter programs.

Sorors, membership is on the roll. Let's all be responsive to Soror Estella Simmons and her committee as they have very agressive deadlines.

As usual, a new year starts with new things. The newest quest will be "Mass Payment of Per Capita". Plans are already underway for our annual participation with the Salvation Army Christmas Tree. Plans are being finalized for the 2006 MLK Day of celebration.

There is something for everyone in our Chapter and your ideas for improvement are welcomed.

Edwena L. Crowe

Chapter Awards

During 2002, Xi Iota Omega won the Ivy AKAdemy exhibit for the third year in a row. Our 2003 Regional Awards submittal was displayed at the Regional Conference. Better late than never ... we recently received notification that our 2003 display was also a first place winner. There were no award submissions for 2005 since Xi Iota Omega was one of the host chapters for the Regional Conference. However, Sorors Syreeta (Dickerson) Vaughn and Soror Mildred Beasley are getting the Chapter ready for 2006 Regional Awards and a Chapter Banner.

Moving Forward

The South Eastern Region continues to move forward:

-- An exceptional Tennessee Cluster meeting in Nashville, TN
-- Successful Regional conference in Knoxville
-- A South Eastern Regional Web Site
-- The "Ivy Stand Newsletter"
-- On-line registration for 2006 South Eastern regional conference in Memphis
-- Successful AKA Day at the Capital.

Under the reign of South Eastern Regional Director Cynthia Finch we are continuing to move forward and be the best region in Alpha Kappa Alpha.

The Chapter is also moving forward with implementing the new National Programs. This Chapter also received commendation for completion of Tier I and Tier II Evaluations and "Pearl" recognition for reactivation of Soror. Hats off to Xi Iota Omega
