Sorors, Please take time to visit the National website at http://www.aka1908.com. The national website has been updated to include access to the "members only" section. This access requires your financial card number and a password. The password is available by calling the Basileus, Anti-Basileus, or Protocol Officer. You will reset your password after your initial log-in. If you have problems feel free to call the Basileus or Anti-Basilesu. The site has interactive media, documents and forms, and event publications/flyers/announcements. The site also has your personal information which includes tour initiation date and chapter of initiation.
Most of the National Program target programs has been completed by the chapter. These programs included the MLK Day of Service. Again this year, the program was very successful and well attended. The speaker, Mr. LeRoy Thompson, President and CEO of a local company and former Pittsburg Steeler, was fabulous as was all of the student participants. The Ivy Reading AKAdemy continues at the Scarboro Day Care Center and continues to be successful. Continued success relies on OUR commitment and presence. At the MLK Day of Celebration, the Sorority awarded scholarships to ten local students. The other succesful programs included the Ethnic Food Tasting, Annual Coat and Sweater Day, the Annual Golf Tournament, and kick off of the Debutante Presentation and Ball. Activities remaining include the Volunteer Day activity with the Salvation Army Christmas Tree.
The 2005 Annual Summer Scholarship Golf Challenge, co-sponsored by Xi Iota Omega Chapter and the Oak Ridge Country Club Hoofers, was exceptionally successful. The tentative date for the 2006 challenge is August 19, 2006 at the Oak Ridge Country Club.
The 2005 South Eastern Regional Conference, the 73rd, was held April 7 - 10, 2005, in Knoxville, Tennesee. The 2006 South Eastern Regional Conference wil be held March 2006 in Memphis, Tennessee.
The National Founder's Day was held January 14 - 17, 2005, in Atlanta, Georgia. Our Basileus, Soror Crowe, and Soror Estella Simmons attended. The 2006 National Founder's Day will be held January 2006 in Jackson, Mississippi.
The Leadership Conference was held August 2005 at Pleasure Island, Bahamas. Sorors Crowe, Davidson, and Simmons attended. Watch the Ivy Leaf for announcement of the 2007 Leadership Conference.
The 53rd Boule will be held July 2006 in Detroit, Michigan. Mark your calendars and plan to attend.
