[Several
people have enquired about the extent of my research. I am extracting
this information from notebooks that I have compiled over nearly 40
years of research. My Duke research includes VA, SC, GA, some AL and
FL. These postings are unordered as one can tell because they come
from random notes. Please realize that I have probably made mistakes
in transcription. I went to all these county courthouses and
transcribed these notes from the original records by hand. I was
always working on limited time so I very likely left out some
pertinent information. One needs to review the individual record to
verify what I have compiled. I Hope that they can be of benefit to a
Duke researcher. -- Joe

No doubt as to the family is there. Now I have the children of Washington Duke and of Taylor Duke & if I can get the brothers & sisters of Taylor or even his date of birth -- I can write a logical disproval -- or if I can find where his William was born in 1783 & of what father that would settle it.
children probably of Wm. (age 67 in 1850) and Clara (age 53 in 1850)"
[Note: The Curry sisters were professional genealogists who lived in Washington, D.C. around the turn of the 20th Century. This researcher placed the quotation marks around Ga since this is an apparent mistake in memory. It is actually Alabama]
