Socrates
One soul inhabiting two bodies

C. S. Lewis
(1898-1963)

Friendship is unnecessary, like philosophy, like art.

It has no survival value;

rather it is one of those things that give value to survival.

A true friend is someone who's there for you
when they'd rather be anywhere else.

You never know how many friends you have
until you rent a cottage at the beach.

Before you borrow money from a friend,
decide which you need more.

True friends are like diamonds,
so precious and rare;
false friends are like autumn leaves,
found everywhere.

Reciprocal pleasure and advantage
is the only rational foundation
for real friendship.

False friends are like shadows,
they are always with you in the sunshine
but leave you when you are in the dark.

Be slow in choosing a friend
and slower still in exchanging one.

To have one friend
is better than to have two new ones.

Show me your friends
and I will tell you who you are.

You can change your friends,
you can change your underwear;
but you can never change
your friends' underwear.

Where would you like to go?
