"The
celebration of the 60th anniversary of our graduation from Dick Owens, famed for his award winning dancing with his sister Joanne, took the floor with his wife Charlotte and danced to Glenn Miller’s “In The Mood.” That took us back to Spotlight Revues of years ago. Johnny Leffler and Cathie Brown held forth as M.C.’s introducing classmates and reading Dick Montague’s poem, and the poem that Shirley Garman and Anna Doone Hills wrote on the occasion of our graduation in 1949. Cathie
asked if any couples were in the room that had been married at the Sadie
Hawkins Dance and The singing of the Alma Mater concluded the event. The words will forever remain in our hearts: All Hail to You Alma Mater true, We are proud to fight To Uphold the Red and White. All Hail to You Alma Mater true, For our We’ll do or die,
And Always, Always
love you Whittier High.
