GOING
HOME *** Many of us think of home as a place to wonder back to That would be Whittier Union High School to our Alma Mater we still are true
Fond memories remain of the Cardinals of our triumphs that will always live on Past but certainly not forgotten our yesterdays will not be gone
Lost are the after game dances no more Quad where all would meet Even the Varsity Malt Shop gone and the Hula Hut where we all did eat
We left many a friend behind that day in June sixty years ago Out of the nest to seek our destiny young and innocent with hearts a-glow
Starting out on a highway of dreams certain we had been prepared for life well Traveling into the sunset for a new sunrise as we bid Whittier High a fond farewell
We were the 49’ers of the 20th century going from commonplace to cyberspace By taking all the right forks in the road we’ve left a long wide trail to trace
Most have now done their thing did it well and to a tee Now heading for the 60th reunion returning home to have a look-see
Back to where the visions started where the weekly movie once was “in” This time no late night drag races but friendships will be born-again
So its back home for the class of ‘49 to see if Algernon still has a tip The stories will flow as we reminisce all for fun and fellowship
