Michael Biehn is a handsome, charismatic and talented actor, who is too often unrecognized and under-appreciated. And yet, he has won many loyal fans, as evidenced by the many web sites and discussion lists dedicated to him. For me, I think his appeal has something to do with the everyman qualities of his characters. Michael manages to instill accessibility in his characters. His heroes are human, the guy next door whom you'd feel comfortable talking to and borrowing a ladder from. He creates characters who are not larger than life but part of it. From the Reese of Terminator, who cherishes a simple photo; to Hicks of Aliens-"It's not like we're engaged or anything"; to Casey, Breach of Trust-"It's my cash!"; to Chris, Magnificent Seven, and his pain. Michael draws from his characters and communicates to us those qualities and feelings we all understand and identify with, and by doing so, he draws us in as well.
Add to that his charm and a special chemistry that's difficult to define, and Michael communicates from the screen in a magical and yet very real way.
Through this site, I hope to offer some commentary about his work to illustrate the special artistry Michael Biehn brings to his performances. Whether in a leading role or as a supporting player, Michael will always put his unique stamp on any character he plays.
