Conde Nast Traveler on the Web
Conde Nast Traveler is a magazine with the insiders scoop on the best hotels, best vacations, best planning. It published a killer article (July 2000, pg 45-46). A professional travel writer priced four Hawaiian vacation packages
though the web and through a travel agent. In all four cases the travel agent got him more, and usually for less money. And always with much less effort and frustration. The article not available at their web site, but other good
information is there.

The original, and many consider the best, Hana Road Guide. It included the cassette and a large fold out tour guide with flora guide. Located in a separate building at the Shell Gasoline station in Kahului, it opens about 9am. If you arrive before they open, the Shell station will sell you the guide. Price $20. Highly recommended.

If you like botanical gardens, gorgeous scenery, and non-commercialized Hawaiian culture; then plan to spend at least a day on the Hana Road. At least purchase the Hana Road cassette tour or take one of the bus
tours to see the gorgeous sites along the road. This will take half a day. Highly recommended.
