If you want to review the vacation photographs; you have come to the right page.  Video setting to properly view this page is a minimum of 800 x 600 video resolution and 16 million colors.  

With 621 digital camera photographs snapped, only the best 178 are included here.   Some events deserved to be photographed, but because it was not allowed (eg: stage show) I will use word pictures in place of the photographs.  Be sure to check the Resource page for their web site addresses, as many post their own photographs.  Embedded in each set of my photographs are links to the narrative and resources.   Photographs have been divided into groups to speed up display.  However, you can browse  the entire Gallery as if it was one page.

This is the standard hotel room at The Hilo Hawaiian Hotel.
	Panning from right to left; there three photos show the room interior.  Notice the standard room comes with a safe, a very large lanai and a small refrigerator.
The housekeeping staff told me only a number of rooms are handicap equipped.  The conversion work was well done.

Many of the upper floor rooms look out over the hotel grounds.  There are many walking paths and benches with excellent views of the ocean.	In the distance is Coconut Island.  The hotel walking paths connect to Coconut Island..
This ocean view is from one of the hotel walking paths.	The hotel is on Banyan Drive.  The street is lined with these large banyan trees.  Each tree was planted to honor a person, and has a plaque with the name of the person honored and the date of planting.  Many trees were planted in the 1930's

	The Hati Building hosts Cafe Pesto Hilo Bay, a fine tobacco shop, and several other small businesses.  This is the interior of Cafe Pesto.  The ceiling has pressed tin, brass fans, and period lighting fixtures.  The entire building has been restored to its, elegant, original condition.

This is an example of the detail Hilo lavishes on its restoration.  This is a most unique staircase.	This is the AOF building, circa 1925.  Beautifully restored.
	Then there are the unrestored buildings in downtown Hilo.

This scenic drive is just north of Hilo. This is one of the many streams that cross Pepe'ekeo Scenic Drive.	Another stream.
	All stream crossings are via narrow bridges like this. They are about 12 feet wide.
