RECORDS FOUND ON JAMES MARR

James Marr was found in the SC U.S. Census for 1790 , in the Camden District, Fairfield Co. The record shows, 1 free white male above 16 year of age, 3 males under 16 and 2 white females and no slaves. He was also found in a special SC census in 1772 as living in Fairfield Co. He was not found in the 1800 census.

James Marr was born in Fairfield Co. SC and died in SC. An unconfirmed story says that he was killed by highway men or indians near Augusta GA. All of his children were born in Fairfield SC. The oldest son, Joseph married and had his children in Fairfield Co before moving to Kershaw Co. SC. Both Fairfield and Kershaw Co are located north west of Columbia SC in the foothills of the Appalachians Range.
