order  Frequently Asked Questions:
 Engine Dollies and Transmission Attachments:
1. How does the engine attach to the stand? The front mounts bolt directly to the engine. Front motor mounts are not necessary. The rear legs bolt to the bell housing attachment holes.

2. How does the stand attach to a Ford flathead motor? The uprights attach to the exhaust manifold bolt holes. The exhaust manifolds cannot be installed, but the water pumps can be installed.

3. Can the stand be used for early Chevrolet V-8 motors?
No. The stand is designed to attach to the side mounting holes. Early Chevrolet engines, 265 cubic inch and early 283 cubic inch engines do not have these side pads.

4. Can an engine be run on an engine dolly? No, the engine dolly is not designed as a test stand. Since the rear legs are attached to the bell housing bolt holes, a flywheel/pressure plate cannot be attached.

5. Will the stand hold a fully assembled Chevrolet big block or other heavy motors? Yes, the stands are designed to support 1200 lbs. They are made of .090 wall steel tube and the casters are rated at 300 lbs. each. This is more than sufficient to hold a heavy motor.

6. Can I assemble an engine on a dolly? Yes. The dollies are primarily designed for storage, but they allow full access to all engine components. They are tall enough to allow oil pan removal.

7. How does the transmission attachment work? The transmission attachment is designed to slide into the back of the engine dolly. The engine and transmission are bolted together. The rear legs are removed from the engine dolly and the combined engine and transmission rests on the front engine mounts and the rear transmission mount. A transmission mount must be attached to the transmission. This is the same way it is installed in the car.

8. Is the transmission attachment designed for specific transmissions?
No. Since the transmission attachment slides into the rear of the engine dolly, it is adjustable for the different length transmissions. A transmission mount must be attached to the transmission for proper alignment.

9. What engine models have transmission attachments available?
Currently big and small block Chevrolets and small block Fords have transmission attachments available.
