A comic strip submitted to a contest ran by a local weekly. I got a swell gift certificate out of it..
An old Top Ten List - "Things Hot Rod Is Thinking at This Moment," as sent to the alt.toys.transformers newsgroup.

Caricature
 |
|
A personal gallery of various big-time celebs. Strictly amateur stuff, so some aren't as stylized/exaggerated as I'd like. When things are going right, it can be great fun, but when not, there's nothing more frustrating. The way I see it, there's life-drawing (which is essentially objective), cartooning (essentially subjective), and then there's the delicate balance that is caricature.
And if you're also into this sort of thing, you might want to check out the caricature section at the Virtual Art postboards.

Nine Favorite Comics
 |
|
Calvin & Hobbes - Bill Watterson would certainly have to rank as one of my greatest heroes and influences. [Magic on Paper]
The Far Side - Another classic... Being a gag-a-day panel, it probably doesn't get quite as much due as it should. [Salon.com Larson interview]
FoxTrot - A simple, but often clever, family strip by Bill Amend. Probably has more of an influence on the newer generation of cartoonists than one might think.
Frazz
Get Fuzzy - Probably one of the better-drawn strips around today. ["Meet the Makers" interview].
Mr. Lowe - A great, but short-lived, comic about a grade-school teacher. By Mark Pett, who now does Lucky Cow.
Pearls Before Swine - More of a literal strip than a visual one. Comedic genius when at is best, predictable when at its worst, but even then it can be pretty funny.
Peanuts - [The Art of Charles M. Schulz (book)]
Zits - It can be a bit grating and condescending at times, but it's still pretty good.

Nine Favorite Cartoons
 |
|
Transformers - That live-action movie helmed by Michael Bay? Yeah, it sounds pretty bad already.
Batman: The Animated Series
Cartoon Planet - A more demented version of the Sesame Street-type kiddie variety shows. Also a more concentrated dose of the wackiness that was Space Ghost: Coast to Coast.
Dexter's Laboratory
Disney classic animated shorts - To the higher-ups at Disney: show these things on TV once in a while, because not every kid has wise, savvy parents who will buy the DVD collections.
DuckTales
Gi Joe - Knowing is half the battle. Extreme violence is the other half.
Powerpuff Girls
Robotech

piece of beef... that he eats. That to me, ladies and gentlemen, is love.”
