• Designed and built the first fully functional Bluetooth Access Point prototype and demonstration unit enabling hundreds of customer and trade show demonstrations over a two-year period.
• Conducted site survey, needs assessment, systems engineering requirements definition, and vendor evaluation for a campus-wide Wireless LAN and Wireless Living Laboratory project at Wofford College leading to a trouble-free and low maintenance installation.
• Strengthened Bluetooth marketing efforts by presenting at major trade shows, technical conferences, symposia, and other venues as requested by the Marketing and Engineering departments.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

• Led a diverse team of 300 information technology team members including project leaders providing hardware, software, network and development support positively impacting 8000 computer users.
• Initiated and led projects involving Statistical Process Control (SPC), cycle time reduction, quality improvement and materials and processes characterization pioneering the concepts of Six Sigma design, Total Cycle Time Management and Concurrent Engineering for high reliability programs.
• Managed successful production of Hughes Aircraft Corporate Design, Quality and Technology Manuals, Materials and Processes Application Documentation, Related Databases, Specification Maintenance Systems, Work Instructions, Shelf Life Manuals and Workmanship Criteria Manuals.

INFORMATION SYSTEMS AND TECHNOLOGY

• Established and implemented the Internet, Intranet and Extranet strategy for Motorola SSTG and participated in the requirements definition development for the Motorola Corporate Internet strategy and Corporate COMPASS (Intranet) Project resulting in efficient and cost effective management and control of millions of web pages and documents.
• Managed Unix and classified networks and served as the Task Leader for the Developmental Software Support Facility including UNIX (AIX, HPUX, Solaris and SunOS), SCO UNIX, VAX, PC, Macintosh platforms and secure facilities in support of JSTARS Ground Station Module (GSM) software development and depot maintenance efforts.
• Managed a team of twelve software engineers and administrators in the development of database and web-based applications and tools, re-engineering software development processes and the reduction of system administration costs including Quality Prediction and Design Phase Defect Reduction, Inventory Management and a Manufacturing Engineering Software Toolkit.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY DEVELOPMENT

• Utilized advanced inventing processes to create 23 specific inventions on the topic of Personal Area Networking in a nine-month period and the filing of 10 patent applications of which three patents have been issued, and seven are pending.
• Conducted detailed analysis of numerous companies for use in determining suitability for venture capital investment or acquisition.
• Conducted a major study of the Wireless LAN industry and recommended appropriate investment strategy resulting in a roadmap for Motorola participation in this industry.
