Welcome to Walnut Ridge!
About Me
When I was ten years old my talented mother helped me
cut and sew my first dress. My love for sewing began at that moment
and I have been in love with needle, thread and fabric ever since. I
used to make most of my own clothes and those of my children until
they were old enough to want name brands.
I began quilting in the 70’s, before the advent of
rotary cutters, strip piecing and fat quarters. (Weren’t they called
remnants?) One of my first quilts was a Double Wedding Ring,
followed by an English paper-pieced Grandmother’s Flower Garden. I
hand-quilted both.
My sewing was interrupted when I went back to work,
teaching high school math to students with learning disabilities.
Grading papers, preparing lessons and running my own children to
their numerous activities consumed every minute of the day with no
energy left to devote to quilting.

My children are now grown (I am a proud Grandma!) and
I have been happily retired since 1999, leaving me lots of time
to get back into quilting. At first I was astonished at all the new
gadgets, wonderful computerized sewing machines and beautiful
fabrics available. I now spend many hours every day, contentedly
working in my home sewing studio.
If you have a chance, please call or drop me an
email. I love to share my enthusiasm for quilting with all who will
listen.
