The hamlet of San Augustin is down a side road, miles from anywhere, and seems to be a place that time forgot. A few families farm the bottom of the valley, beside the Gallinas River, and they have rebuilt this church over the past few years. It is a simple structure built entirely of local materials to a standard that belies the humility of the worshipers. NM 102
