While touring Canyon del Muerto early one Saturday morning in September, this shape attracted my eye. I had driven with my guide into the canyon in the dark before sunrise, which meant driving up the wash, or river, coming out of the canyon. There was not an insignificant amount of water in the river, so driving back and forth across the wash and at times up the middle of it was rather unnerving, especially in the dark. Jerold confidently directed me around soft spots that the car would have sunk into. AZ 105
