This view of the north coast is only a few hundred feet from a busy thoroughfare. In another cove just beyond the headland shown here, there was the remains of a gated entrance to a residence long ago destroyed by merciless wind and water. Not surprisingly Bermudian architecture usually takes into account the inevitability of hurricanes. Many of the houses and walls are constructed of blocks of coral, the basic material of the island..
