The awards wall

This is a view of some of my awards. The one I am most proud of is my mixed-mode DXCC. I have 316 countries confirmed; over 300 were worked using a vertical with my homebrew amplifier, a grounded grid 3-1000Z. Other awards include five-band worked all states (WAS), worked all zones (WAZ), and worked all continents (WAC)-CW.

I mainly use this amp for RTTY and slow-scan TV.

The main operating position

FT-990

The FT-990 is my "main" radio. It's connected to my computer. I use a software package, Dxbase98, that integrates my 990 to a VHF radio and packet modem (KAM-Plus) and an electronic log. It's hard to call this the main position, since I spend the bulk of my time on my AM station. But, it is the most modern radio I own.

AM station

This is where is spend most of my operating time. In fact, most of it is on 3880 kcs. In the picture is my Globe King 500. I just love that rig!

Collins station

Here is what I use for SSB: 75S-3, 32S-1, 312B-4 station console, and 516F-2 power supply. The Collins gear does a great job on sideband.

I no longer have the 30L-1 and KWM-2 I use my homebrew amp for QRO.

Some DX QSLs--One for every country I have worked (316)

These three pictures are of some of my QSLs. I have been Dxing since 1985. I worked most of the countries using a Butternut vertical. Three years ago, I put up a beam, but this was after I had 310-plus confirmed. Notice the model airplanes in this picture.

My very messy workbench

One of these days I gotta clean that bench! The stuff on the bench is my modeling paraphernalia. Notice the "boat anchor" AF signal generator (HP) and tube tester (Heathkit).
