Marian
Licha, a professional actress for eighteen years, has added storytelling
to her repertoire. For the past three years, Marian has presented her
storytelling program and other stories at the Kennedy Center, The Capital
Children's Museum, The Museum of American History, schools, libraries,
community centers and bookstores in Maryland, Virginia and Washington,
D.C. with great success. She did her storytelling program at The National
Theatre and at The Artscape Festival in Baltimore
She has been a
guest at the children's radio show, "New York Kids". She has appeared in
several productions in New York City and Washington, DC, most notably for
the Imagination Celebration tour at the Kennedy Center, The National Theater and at NYC's TOMI
Theater. She has been seen on several NBC series as a principal.
Marian has a B.A.
in acting from the George Washington University in Washington, DC and she
earned a graduate degree in Educational Theater and Drama Therapy at New
York University. She specialized in acting at the Lee Strasberg Theater
Institute and at The Second Studio for Actors in New York City.
Most recently,
she has been awarded a grant from the Arts Council of Montgomery County in Maryland,
for an upcoming one-woman show. Ann Mesritz, co-founder of The Washington
Storytelling Theatre, collaborated and
directed in conjunction with Licha "A Magical Journey into Latin America".
"With expressive voice and gestures, Marian Licha,
retold local author/illustrator Lulu Delacre's "Vejigante Masquerader,"...a
dynamic storytelling session that combined interesting facts with
a narrative about the carnival."
