REMOVING
PAINT
FROM YOUR VINTAGE CAMPER _______________________________________________ How do I get the paint off my vintage camper? Well, one would think it wouldn't be that difficult taking into the consideration the age of these campers. But, seems people have experience some difficult when trying to remove the paint from their campers. Here are some ideas:
The
aluminum seems to be very thin, so you
have to be careful if you are going to use any tools. I
have heard that using a pressure washer will help get some of the paint
off before you get into using a stripper or sanding. I used the
high pressure at a car wash on my Scotty a couple of times and it
basically took off all that flaking white? Seems that white paint
is very stubborn to get off. I wasn't trying to get it completely
off, rather I just wanted to get rid of the flaking. I used the
Dutch cleanser, which people recommend, it remove the flaking
pretty good. But, I also noticed it had the tendency to remove
the aqua paint, if you rubbed too hard. I used warm water and a
sponge.(so, maybe this could work to remove the aqua paint if you
worked harder on it)
If you are going to use a paint stripper, One thing that might help on the paint that wont come lose is when it is wet with the stripper put news paper on it and wet it down too this will hold the stripper on that spot longer. Have good ventilation when using strippers or a mask as they have fumes. Here is the web site for a quality paint stripper you can get in 1 - 55 gal containers at: http://www.kwickkleen.com/ I
would say like removing paint from anything, it is going to require
time and effort and since most of these campers are older, it may have
something to do with the pain removal...........................GOOD
LUCK !
