LARRY'S  TROUT  SEASON
ANNUAL  CAMP  OUT
APRIL 15 - 20, 2010

Loleta Recreation in PA
Information: (814)927-6628

HC 2 BOX 130
Marienville PA 16239

Loleta rec area - www.recreation.gov

This is my annual opening of camping season here in swPA. It's my Trout Season Camp Out. Anyone is welcome who likes to fish and or just camp out. Weather is kind of unpredictable this early in the year here in PA. I have seen anything from snow to beautiful sunny weather close to 80° So, come and enjoy a few days of the great outdoors. Sure to be some good food, beverages and a lot of fun.

The campground is first come first serve and has electric in the loop I plan to use. The upper loop has NO ELECTRIC. There is water available and I don't think the showers are open this early in the year? Click the map for larger view of the camping area.

Getting there is pretty easy - GPS Coordinates are:
N 41 24.039 W 079 04.933

Or you can use MAPQUEST and put in this location: Marienville PA 16239 and then:

Loleta Campground is located in northwest Pennsylvania near Marienville. From the west, take I-80 east to Clarion, turn left onto SR 66 and continue northeast to Marienville. At the center of town in Marienville, turn right on South Forest Street (between the Gulf Station and the Bucktail Hotel) and go south 6 miles until you arrive at the Loleta Campground entrance sign. From the east, take I-80 west to Brookville, turn right on SR 36 and follow northwest. Turn right onto SR 899 and follow it northbound. Turn right on SR 66 to Marienville. At the center of town in Marienville, turn right on South Forest Street (between the Gulf Station and the Bucktail Hotel) and go south 6 miles until you arrive at the Loleta Campground entrance sign.

I have decided to add this section on the outdoors and nature. I believe Mother Nature has provided us the great beautiful outdoors and nature to use and enjoy.  As vintage campers, we all have a love for the outdoors, nature and all that it encompasses from the beauty of the land, trees, flowers and the wildlife that abounds.  Also, it is our duty to be good and conscious campers as we use what has been provided for us, so it can be used by generations who come after us.
So, every month I will be adding a new topic with some pictures and a little info about it.  Anyone who would like to contribute can - EMAIL ME - something to add here.  Below are some nice outdoor web sites.  Feel free to visit their web sites for more information.

The Little Brown Myotis (commonly called the Little Brown Bat) is one of the most common bats in the U.S. and Canada. Its nitrate-rich guano was sold as fertilizer in the first half of the 20th century, Nursery colonies begin forming in April or May and disperse from late July through October. They may number in the thousands (one observed maternity colony had 6,700 individuals, others have had 4,000). The first two to three days after the young are born, their mothers suckle them constantly, except while foraging. Until they are ready to fly on their own, at about four weeks, the young remain in the roost while the mother hunts for small insects, especially flies and moths. Bats usually do not carry their young in flight. However, if disturbed, the mother may take flight with the young, carrying it crosswise, with the infants mouth grasping one teat and its hindlegs tucked under the opposite armpit. Besides echolocation clicks, this species produces warning "honks" when on a collision course with other bats during feeding or near roosts. In the fall, these bats may fly several hundred miles to a hibernating site; they often can be seen swarming at cave entrances. From September, October, or early November through March or April, they hibernate in irregular clusters, some tight, some loose. They wake an average of once every two weeks during hibernation and may fly about outdoors on warm winter nights, but without feeding. They store about 1/16 ounce (2 g) of fat as winter sustenance, using nearly three-quarters of it during winter awakenings and emergence. The remainder must sustain them through the winter  - - -   L 31/8–3 5/8" - T 1 1/4–1 5/8" - HF 1/4– 3/8" - FA 1 3/8"–1 5/8" -  E 5/8"  - Wt 1/16 –1/2 oz 3.1–14.4 g) Thanks to : MORE INFO
