VIKING of the MONTH
September 1998
"Miss September"
N1285R Don Ames' 72 Turbo Viking based at Ryan Field Tucson, AZ
"Higher, Faster and Farther"
Don writes; "Higher, faster and farther...and the great flying characteristics are the reasons I love this '72 Bellanca Turbo Viking. The 2,000 hour TBO Lycoming IO-540K with manually controlled Rajay Twin Turbos, 92 gallon tanks and 63 cu. ft. of oxygen...provide a capability of flying at over 20,000', a TAS of 210 mph and over 1000 miles of range. The C-III autopilot and full IFR capability add to the pleasure and utility of this fine machine. Also, the turbos provide for excellent take-off performance from high altitude airports."
