VIKING of the MONTH
October 1998
"Miss October"
N93570 is Larry Smalley's 17-31A Super Viking based at Garfield County Airport, Rifle, CO
A great view of the graceful Viking lines...
Larry writes; "This 1973 model 17-31A is powered by a Lycoming IO-540-K1E5, 300 HP normally aspirated engine. This aircraft is standard except for a standby vacuum system. The aircraft was purchased as a commuter, to fly between OKC and ICT, that was back in 1993. Two job changes later and the airplane is part of the family, used for pleasure. These airplanes are the most remarkable for what they'll do for the money and how strong they are. Think about this; they don't rattle and squeak if you hit a bump during your taxi out!"
