Victor writes: "N8281R is a 1972 17-30A and has 3112 hours total time and IFR. The paint job is very unique and it is a real pleasure when flying into a towered airport and the tower makes a comment that he or she likes the paint job and to contact ground on XXX.XX in the same sentence. I even heard someone's wife at the 99 5T6 fly-in say to her husband, when did the factory start painting them like that? . I had the panel rearranged when I first bought her in 1998 and have upgraded to a Northstar GPS 60 coupled to the AP. Both Nav 1 & 2 are coupled to the Century IIB also. I have factory oxygen and four place intercom. King ADF, Transponder, MAC 1700, MX 170B, and have installed on the pilot yoke a Color Garmin GPS 295 along with an Airmap 300 on the right side yoke for the wife. I have added an Electronics International digital OAT, CHT, EGT along with a Digital clock and engine timer with count up and down features. With wing tip, belly, rudder, and vertical fin strobes, one person told me that it looks like a fire fly coming in at night."
"8281R is based at Grand Prairie Airport (GPM) in the DFW area along with four other Vikings. I am currently working on my IFR with it. What a great bird to train in."
