VIKING of the MONTH

June 2001

"Miss June"

N4935V is a 1969 17-30 owned by Hal Schroeder

This Viking is based at AeroCountry Airport (T31), McKinney, TX

As the yoke emblems say: "At Home in the Air"

Tim Schroeder writes: "My grandfather, Hal Schroeder, a retired pilot, has this 1969 Super Viking. He doesn't fly it as much as he probably wants to, maybe because his family members are always flying it. He has flown almost every kind of airplane under the sun, from Luscombes and DC-3s to Challengers and Falcons. But I think he would love to see this one as the Viking of the Month. My Dad, Uncle, and I took some pictures of it and think it would make a great contribution to the website. His 1969 Bellanca Super Viking, 4935V, is so much fun to fly."

"The Bellanca, 4935V, is based at AeroCountry Airport (T31), just outside of McKinney, TX. Since August 1999, when the airplane was purchased, we have traveled all over Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and have made a trip up to Madison, Wisconsin. All trips have been without obstacle, except for the bird that was in the wrong place at the wrong time, as we were going into Springfield, Missouri (whoops). Hopefully this airplane will see many more vacation spots in the many years to come of happy flying."

"We have had the occasional problem here and there, but all in all, it has been very dependable. You cannot beat the performance and speed of the Viking. The responsiveness is better than any airplane, new or used, on the market today. For as easy and fun as this airplane is to fly, I am surprised that more people don't know more about Bellancas. I think it is better if we keep this secret to ourselves."
