This Viking is based in Bolivar, MO (M17)
What a Joy!
Rex writes: "N28058 is based at Bolivar, MO (M17) and has 1,500 hours on the frame and 1,100 hours on the engine. My first experience was in a Cherokee 140 as a trainer and as soon as I received my license we bought N28058. That was in January of 1999 and since we have put over 400 hours on her. We own a repossession company and use the plane to travel from one office to the other, and also to shuttle drivers to cars that have been repoed and stored at locations other than our lots. Our first flight was to Phoenix/Las Vegas after we had flown the plane for only 25 hours. We have since then flown to Florida twice and several times to New Orleans, Dallas, Cincinnati and to northern Michigan."
"I started training for my pilots license in August of 1998 and received it in November of that same year. Immediately I began my training for my instrument rating that I received in November 1999. I just received a multi-engine rating in July 2000. Diane has taken a right-seater course that is offered by the local CFI (Jerry Barnes) and is a wonderful flying companion. Our 28058 has been a joy to fly and we fly it as often as possible, for business and personal flights. We have four grandchildren and the three older girls, Mattracea (8), Katelyn (3), and AnnaMarie (2 1/2) get a special joy out of flying on top of the clouds. Logan (1 1/2) is not quite old enough to tell us what he thinks. We have also made several flights for Angel Flights and Wings over Mid-America."
"Equipment is as follows: Dual KX-155s, DME, ADF (oh joy for that instrument check ride) and we recently put in an Echo flight strata cheeta GPS and weather. Having e-mail on board has proven to be really handy for my work."
"If any of the other Viking pilots have a chance to come to our part of the world, M17 has a small restaurant (Ann's Landing) on the field and does a real good job of taking care of pilots. Diane & I would enjoy a visit with fellow Viking owners and we have room in our home for an overnight visit. It would be a good time to share some Ozark tales over a glass of wine or two. There are several local sights such as Branson, MO (lots of country music shows and family entertainment), Bass Pro-Shop in Springfield, and Bennett Springs (a great trout stream) within a short distance from Bolivar."
