Bill writes: "N8229R is a 1972 17-30A and only has 1890 hours total time. It has 580 hours since a firewall forward overhaul and the interior and exterior are in very good original condition as it's been hangared, of course. The paint is beige with burnt orange trim. No current upgrades have been done to the airframe as of yet. 29R is full IFR with dual KX-175s, HSI, King ADF and transponder, KN-65 DME (which works well) and an Apollo 360 GPS with moving map. Both Nav 1 and the GPS are coupled to the Century 2000 autopilot. It also has factory oxygen and a four place intercom...but no ski tube."
"The airplane seems to be very comfortable and easy to fly. The only quirk to flying it that takes some getting used to for me is the auto gear extend under 120 mph. I'll adapt though as the speed makes up for any small inconveniences. I've been flying for 29 years and been over looking this wonderful aircraft all this time!"
"29R is based at Bowie Municipal Airport in north Texas and will make weekly commutes to work in Houston and back. I do indeed log a lot of hours! I was flying a C-182 and wanted more speed. I was looking at Bonanzas when I found this Viking at my local airport. What luck, as my mechanic knew the airplane and the retired UPS captain that owned it (he's moving up to a twin)!"
