Christmas Room

WELCOME

AND

  HAPPY  HOLIDAYS

Please come in and visit awhile.

With all that snow out there, you must be chilled.

Come sit by the fire and get warmed up.

As you can see, we've been busy here at VetCenter

getting the place all decorated for the holidays.

It's that time again, of holiday and good cheer.

I love this time of year, don't you?

I guess it is all the festivities and lights and in general,

people themselves seem a bit different. They seem more jovial,

and  more compassionate toward man. Why can't we all be

this way the rest of the year as well, I wonder?

Is it because this is what this holiday is about for Christians?

But then I would think that one would also know

it just doesn't mean for now, during holiday time only.

But that it is meant to be " a way to live,"  all through the year.

I also feel a bit sad at this time of year as I think about our

men and women far from home. Those who have lost loved ones

whom they can't share holidays with, other than in memories only now.

I thought heavily on this when I sat through the 1st Gulf War.

Two of my sons serving in the Gulf War, where not home to share

this holiday with us here at home.

Once again, as we prepare for a "possible" 2nd Gulf War,

my thoughts drift to other families who won't have

family members home during the holidays.

PLEASE, remember our Service Men and Women who are

overseas or elsewhere other than home. Drop them a

holiday note or card to let them know we remember them

and are PROUD of the job they are doing.

Please take a moment to visit our Holiday Page
dedicated to our Men and Women
of the Armed Services.

PAST and PRESENT

Let's support our Troops and get word to them that they

are  "NOT"   forgotten and that we wish them all a Happy and Safe Holiday

and pray for them all to return home soon.

Messages of Support to Military Troops

The Navy is operating a web site where individuals can also post messages
to "Any Servicemember." This site accepts messages to members of any
of the military branches, not just the Navy.

Support Troops Org. also has a web site where one can leave
messages for deployed servicemembers.

Friends of Our Troops offers programs for schools, churches, civic groups, ect.,
to send mail to our deployed troops in a safe environment.

The Oklahoma Army Military Affiliate Radio System (MARS) volunteers
are sponsoring a "Holiday Message Program" to deliver holiday messages
to disabled American veterans in VA hospitals in Oklahoma.

Operation Enduring Freedom offers an email group that individuals can join.
Servicemembers can join this group to receive emails of support from individuals
all over the world. Non-servicemembers can join this group to help provide emails
of support to military servicemembers.

Military Support Packages

"The Veterans of the Vietnam War, Inc. believe in our service personnel and their mission.
We believe OUR support for them is paramount to their emotional well-being.
They need to know that their family, their friends, their community and their countrymen support them.
Their job is tough enough and if we can give them a little comfort and all of our support
- then we have achieved our aim."

Operation USO Care Package also sends items to our Troops
