Burial at Sea ~ June 15, 2001
It is with great sadness that I pass along the following news.
" Dr Andrew Urbanc,"
fondly known to many of us as "Dr U",
passed away Sunday 5/20/2001
He was know to many within the Gulf Veteran's Community.
As well as supporting the Gulf War Vets over the last 8 years or so,
he also helped out in many different ways.
Helping not only individually but as well, was a great letter writer.
Many Congressional People heard from
Dr U and in some cases,
"in no uncertain terms."
Condolences can be sent to Dr. U's beloved wife, Mrs. Urbanc, at :
I am sure she would love to hear from
us during this time of sorrow.
For all the years she (as do many family members)
graciously shared her hubby with us, and as Dr U was there for us,
let's let her know, we also are here for her, if she so needs..
Dr U served proudly in the US Navy.
He entered WWII in January 1944 out of
high school
and spent his time in the Pacific area until 1946.
He was on first plane to land in Japan
after the armistice.
He went to school and got a Pharmacy Degree and on to
Medical School Univ of Oregon.
He entered USN in his senior year 1959 and served in the Navy till his retirement
from Chief of Dermatology on Jan 1 1980.
He entered private practice in Fallbrook at that time and was
retired for 12 years. He turned 75 on 5/4/01.
During his career he was medical officer on the Benjamin Franklin,

[now decommissioned] and qualified as one of the few to have the

Navy Diving Medical Medal. He was very Proud of that.
He will be buried at sea with his ashes
scattered from a submarine,
as was his wish.
Our condolences to his wife and family.
Please feel free to sign in the
"Ship's Log Book"
which will then be sent on to Mrs U, as a way of expressing
our thanks and sorrow, in the loss of a friend to many of us.
And to you Dr U, dear friend,
Rest in Peace

Taken this past year and as you can see,
even though he was battling illness,
Dr U STILL kept writing those letters.

Dr Urbanc and his sweetheart of 53 years.
