Oldies Shoppe

Ahhhhh the 50's...
What do you think of when you
hear the 50's mentioned?

First thing that would come to my mind would be:

"those Golden Oldies years"

I don't remember too much back in those "early"  50's years,
but I do remember it was the begining years of

"Rock Roll"
 n

By the time it got to the middle and late fifty's it had taken over.

Come with me now, as we take a stroll into the past, remembering
the days of  the birth of  "Rock n Roll"

.

The 50's

.

I remember pony tails and the skirts with "Poodles" on them,
bobby socks and saddle shoes..

.

Leather jackets for the guys where big.
.

Hoola Hoops for the Gals..

.

.

And the "dances".

Yep, we had "dances". Only they where called  "Sock Hops" back then.
We'd all gear up for the end of the week when they would hold them in the Like they knew   what you where feeling.
And dancing.. WELL..
Lots of slow dancing.. and partner dancing..
Ahhh, you couldn't wait to get to the hop and dance.. To feel the closeness
of the boy you had a crush on when he held you close..
Back then the female gender was not as forward or as open as today. WE didn't DARE ask a boy to dance then. We just prayed alot and got crooked fingers keeping them crossed so many times..  :)    And the best part of all was you really didn't even have to know  how to dance back then, just sway alot..

Course now, there really wasn't that much in the way of TV  back then. And only Black and White unless you had these plastic sheets that stuck on from static. It would add some hues of green and blue colors to what would show thru.. and you had instant color.. well somewhat color  :)

How about those shows?
Boy, guess they would put todays kids to sleep...     :)

I guess the all time favorite that comes to mind always started off asking:

WHAT TIME IS IT???

Course we all knew, it was

"HOWDY   DOODY "
Time!!

And Gee... REMEMBER

Kukla, Fran and Ollie?                          SKY KING??

                 AND

Westerns and Cowboys where big back then....
Remember....
 HOPPY???

Hopalong Cassidy and his sidekick Gabby

or
that famous line "Hi Ho Silver Away!!! "
Who was that masked man?

None other than:

THE  LONE  RANGER and his sidekick  TONTO

.

And drive-in's where a big thing

along with

soda shops like the ones you saw on the show
"Happy Days"

..
And of course,  "COKE A COLA"  the all time favorite drink
even today..

But mostly it was the music. The Music in those days,
made you come alive..  It made you feeeeel good.

So go grab a Coke and relax a while.
Go back in time and let the music take you away to that feeeeel good time. Put a nickle in the Jukebox  :)
