Introduction:
Dr. Shashi Tiwari received the B.A. (1963) and M.A. (1965) degrees in Sanskrit (University topper with 7 academic Gold Medals) from the University of Lucknow, India. She received her Ph.D. (1968) from the same university in the field of Vedic and Sanskrit studies. Since then she has been teaching at the University of Delhi. She also held the position of Visiting Professor for a short term in 2002 at the Hindu University of America, Orlando. Besides teaching, she is actively engaged in independent research and writing.
She has been honored with ten prestigious academic awards from various Academies in India including "Sanskrit Sahitya Seva Sammana", 2005 of Delhi Sanskrit Academy for her contributions to Vedic and Sanskrit Studies. She has published eighteen books and over 100 research papers. She has presented papers and chaired sessions in many national and international conferences including the 10th & 11th World Sanskrit Conferences at Banglore, India and Torino, Italy, the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th International WAVES Conferences at Atlanta, Los Angeles, Hoboken, Boston, Washington DC, and Houston USA, the International Vedic Conference at Kathmandu, Nepal, the 36th ICANAS at Monteral, Canada, and the 2nd Ramayana Conference, 2005 at Dekalb, USA.
She has specialized in the field of the Vedic studies, Sanskrit learning, Vedic philosophy and Indian culture. She has been teaching postgraduate classes at Delhi University for the last 30 years and undergraduate classes for more than 35 years. A list of her books is included below.
