The Great State of Tennessee

Tennessee became the sixteenth state to be admitted to the Union on June 1, 1796. It is known as the Volunteer State and was the last of the Southern States to cecede from the Union during the Civil War. There are three grand divisions in the state, ranging from the glorious mountains in East Tennessee, the plateau and hillside land in Middle Tennessee; to the delta flat lands of West Tennessee. It is almost three states in one.
