I love to collect vintage 1950's Christmas decorations and have
quite a few from my childhood. The display on my piano this
year is a 4 foot aluminium vintage tree with all 1950's vintage
ornaments that have been in my family since early 1950. At the
base of the tree are vintage decorations I also had since 1952. A
wonderful musical Santa, sleigh and reindeer that move as jingle bells
plays when you wind it up and the streetlight lights when it is plugged
in. There is also a vintage battery operated Snowman that blows air from his
head and floats a styrofoam snowball above his head as well as moves his head,
arms and his eyes light up. The other items are tiny paper houses and a plasticville
church from my old Lionel train layout and some vintage figures.
Here is a close up of the vintage decorations at the base of the tree.
I love to collect large and small animated Christmas figures. Here
are three snowman figures. On the left is a 1950's battery
operated Snowman with his original box. He moves his head and
arms and blows air out of his hat which "floats" a styrofoam
snowball over his head. It still works! In the center is the
new "Snowden" 24" electrically animated figure, exclusive to
Target stores. He moves his head and arms while he ice skates. On
the right is a 12" battery operated snowman that plays 10 Christmas
songs and moves his head and arms.
Here is a new addition to the animated figures for 1998 - the
Gingerbread Girl! She joins the others this year in the
piano display.
Here are the 1997 additions to my collection of animated
figures. I have this scene set on top of my baby grand
piano. It includes the new animated reindeer and Mrs.
Claus.
Here are three large 24" electric animated figures. On the
left is Santa sitting on his chimney. In the center is the
Nutcracker King and on the right, an Old World Santa. In
the front is a vintage 1950 Santa and reindeer music box. When
wound up, the sleigh and reindeer move and Jingle Bells is
played. There is also a streetlight. This is a wonderful old
piece that still works very well.
Here is a large 24" animated Elf, a clown juggler and the
Christmas SnowGirl with an illuminated snowball. The little
clown actually moves his marionette when his arms go up and down.
Here is a Christmas Caroling Girl, the Nutcracker King again and a cute
reindeer in a Santa Hat holding his candy cane. They all
move their heads and arms.
Here are some stuffed Christmas Bears and their little
friends. The bears are exclusive to Marshall Fields Dept. store
in Chicago. Mistletoe Bear is on the left and last years
SantaBear in his fireman outfit has two little exclusive dalmation friends.
They are "Flash, the fire dog" and really bark when you squeeze their tummys.
The little white bear on the right is just a cute bear.
My collection of Egyptian Christmas ornaments. A set of
four Pollanaise ornaments - Nefertiti, pyramid, Tut and the
ball, a Christopher Radko Mummy on the left and Radko
Egyptian bell on the right. Radko's Ramses is not visible.
