I took this photograph of an old style US 3 shield in Cambridge, Massachusetts in the late 1990s. I've learned from other websites that it is only an old-style shield, not a real vintage shield. MassDoT experimented with these signs in the early 1990s. I have two pictures of US 3 with these signs. The first was taken soon after entering Cambridge. The second is the last reassurance sign on southbound US 3, along the Charles River.
