•The Ankh-Morpork
City Watch (originally the Night Watch) is a fictional police force within the Discworld series of books by Terry Pratchett.
The watch is based in the city-state
of Ankh-Morpork on the Discworld.
•The primary members of the watch are:
•Commander Samuel Vimes - His Grace the Duke of Ankh, Commander of the Ankh-Morpork City Watch.
•Captain Carrot Ironfoundersson - Captain of the Ankh-Morpork City Watch police force. Bulging with muscles, this six-foot-six-inch
dwarf (adopted) remains honest, good-natured,
and honorable despite the city's best efforts. Carrot may be the true heir to Ankh-Morpork's throne (a subject filed under
"I wouldn't ask if I were you").
•Sergeant Angua
- Angua and all her family are werewolves. She is the daughter of a Baron and Baroness of Überwald, and has two brothers,
Wolfgang and Andrei, as well
as a deceased sister, Elsa. She left Überwald when she decided that killing and eating people was not her lifestyle.
•Sergeant Detritus - He is a troll who started off as a thug hired to beat other people up.
He then became a bouncer, or rather
splatter, at the Mended Drum. Looking for a better job, he decided to join the city watch.
•Sergeant Fred Colon - Colon is a sergeant in the Ankh-Morpork City Watch, and appears to have been so for a long time. He was a
corporal in the Watch at the time
Samuel Vimes first joined, and subsequent to this spent some time in the army before returning to the Watch.
•Corporal Nobby Nobbs - Nobby Nobbs is the kind of person who joins the army to
loot corpses. He is untidy,
smelly, and shorter than most dwarfs, and carries a certificate signed by the Patrician to prove that he's a
human being. He always seems
to have a cigarette butt about him.
