The Henry Family was of Scotch/Irish Decent. I am told we are decended from Patrick Henry. I believe this when I was younger but the more I search on the family name, the less inclined I am to believe this. However, all the Henry's had many children who moved away early and started other Henry lines. We'll see what time and searching proves.
There were three sisters in Mother's Family. They all worked for the telephone company. Mother quit or was fired from her job during the East Nashville Fire which occurred on March 22, 1916.
When Mother was born, they lived in White County (Sparta) in the Black Oak Community, Mother was sick and Pawpaw Henry rode 18 miles on a horse to find the doctor to tend her.
Pawpaw was a whistler, singer, and taught music even though he was uneducated himself. He took a job in a lumbering operation and was severely injured. They kept him on Opium (I think) until he got hooked. Unforunately, he was never cured from this addiciton. He was run over and killed on Dickerson Road, when I was eight years old. The thing I remember most about him is his holding me in his lap while singing and whistling "Listen to the Mockingbird". He also entertained us children by eating his green peas on a knife. He would line them up on the knife blade and roll them off into his mouth. We thought this was funny.
