The Douglas Clan hails from Scotland. Tom and I learned last summer that the Douglas Clan and the Vance Clan left Scotland about the same time and intermarried. We wondered if we could be distantly related. The grandchildren have been interested in finding out about the Douglases. Since I'm retired now, I thought I might do some research for them. In all my years of working, and raising children, etc I've never had time to devote to this research. I'm going to try now.
Family Origins Where they livedThe Douglases supposedly originated in Scotland, lanidng in Philadelphia. Our Douglas forefather came down to Virginia and then to Middle Tennessee. They did not move a lot but due to County reformation it appears so. They have been found on the Census of Cannon, Coffee, Rutherford, and Davidson Couties in Middle Tennessee.
