T. C. Lee Picture Album, Volume 1
My very first picture, which was used on a Japanese passport, 1938.
A family picture taken in 1939. Can you tell which one was me?
The picture was taken at Taihei Studio, located in Taihei Cho, 3 Chome, our street corner.
Later the place became Masako's (Nancy's) home.

The location is on the 3rd floor of Yokusei Byoin (later changed to Yiyin), Taihei Cho, 3 Chome, 99 banchi,
our residence, as also recorded on the following second certificate of vaccination.
Our address was No. 99 (and/or No. 98, two-store front). No. 97 was a grocery store and No. 96 was the well-known
Bolero cofee shop for "miai" (matchmaking for arranged wedding) and for musicians' meeting place (see the documentary
movie "The Dance Age"). At the diagonal of the street corner was the Columbia Records store.
Smallpox vaccinations were required before my elementary school entrance on April 1, 1942
(Certificates of primary 1936 and booster vaccinations 1944)
Of interest are the names of Taihoku mayors (Matsuoka 1936 and Hirotani 1944) on the certificates.
Under the Japanese education system, the first semester starts on April 1.

First grade of Taihei Kokumin Gakko, April, 1942.
On the hat is the Taihei school budge. My jacket was called Sentofuku.
The third small picture is my great Aunt Mrs Su, a registered nurse of Taihoku Imperial University Hospital,
Akiko and me in the summer of 1942 visiting Shienkong Temple near Taipei. The grandaunt is my grandfather's (who was a dentist) young sister.
When I was little, the grandaunt used to play cards with me.
Me and Wang, 1947. I was wearing the jacket called Kokuminfuku.
An Award from the Mayor (Ni-Chien Yu) of Taipei City.
