Damien Johnson Sanctioned For Post Game Outburst
1-24-2035
The World Tourney Committee announced today that American Contestant Damien Johnson has been fined one game check and will be forced to play on defense for the remainder of the first round because of "conduct detrimental to the Tourney."
After defeating fellow American Kyle Devore, Johnson loudly ridiculed him several times, used profanity, and even questioned Devore's right to be in the Tourney.
"This is disgraceful behavior," Committee Chairman Walt Peters added after reading a short statement announcing the punishment. "It is classless and not what we were looking for from contestants. Any further behavioral violations by Johnson and he'll start getting wins taken away or even be expelled from the Tourney."
"He's just being himself." Kyle Devore said mildly when told of the punishment. "This isn't the first time he's behaved like this. I think he forgot he was on the world stage."
The punishment means that Johnson will automatically play defense this Wednesday against Blake Ezor. Going into tomorrow's contest, Ezor has won 55 straight games on offense.
Damien Johnson could not be reached for a statement.
