Excerpt of message from Spence and Catherine Balestrieri Burton, translators: ... headstones tend to get a little flowery! ... It is always difficult to translate memorials and headstones because local dialects may have sayings that are locally used but not normally used in the language.

Per Donna M. Romaine-Raftery: "Ettore was heart broken when he got to Italy for a visit with a new violin for his sister Juliette. She had passed away, and then had this memorial built." "The other photocopy is of a Post Card - from Juliette"

Excerpt of electronic mail sent to DonnaMarie from her father Edward Romaine with copy to Tony Romaine: "...I've got a story about Grandpa Ettore, who, as you know, was an atheist (the family rumor was that he gave up his religion because he blamed the church for influencing his emotionally-ill sister to sign over their property to them; as a result, he ended up with nothing in Postiglione. This has never been confirmed).
