Dear Michigan Friends:
Please forgive me. I have not touched this page for well over a year. There are MANY reasons why I have fallen away from my usual involvement this past year and a half. I have however, continued to be very involved helping parents over the phone on a weekly basis. This alone has been very time consuming but as usual EXTREMELY rewarding. It makes me wonder where I had gotten the energy to do all my other A.S. activities in the past. As we all know, everything in it’s own time. We have had a very exciting development in the Sturr family, which has been taking a lot of our time and attention this year. I will be sharing the news at our annual picnic at Potter Park Zoo so I hope you will be able to attend!!!! How’s that for a cliffhanger?!!!!
Annual A.S. Family Picnic at Potter Park Zoo 2002
Saturday July 13th Potter Park Zoo in Lansing, MI
Pavilion #3 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Pack a picnic lunch for the family along with any play toys your child (and other’s!) might enjoy. Small fee for entry into the park. If you would like to go through the zoo, that is a separate cost.

Support Group Meeting (at Sparrow Hospital) and Zoo
We usually meet first in the room for a
bit then cross over to the hospital cafeteria for lunch. Each family
provides lunch for themselves. Children are welcomed at the meetings
unless we notify you otherwise. We meet in the Sparrow Hospital
Professional Building across the street from the hospital. Park in
the attached parking garage. We will meet in room
"G". If you need further directions please call Sparrow
Hospital at (517) 483-2700. Our meeting times are 11:00 to 4:00 and
are very open and informal unless we have a planned speaker.
If coming from the Grand Rapids area: Take I-96 East to Lansing. Take exit 95 (I-496) to Pennsylvania Ave. exit. Turn left. Go to the 3rd light (Michigan Ave.) and turn right.
From Detroit/Ann Arbor/all points S.E.: Take 96 West to Lansing. Take exit 106 (I-496) to Pennsylvania Ave. exit. Turn right. Go to the 3rd light (Michigan Ave.) and turn right.
Anyone North of Lansing: Take US27 South. Stay on that to Lansing. Follow it until it turns into Cedar Street. Go up to Michigan Ave. where you will turn left (East). Go to Pennsylvania Ave. (2 lights) It's just past the corner of Michigan Ave. and Pennsylvania Ave.
Directions to Picnic at Potter Park in Lansing Mich.: Get off at Pennsylvania Ave. like you are following above directions to Sparrow hospital but turn south and go a couple of blocks. Just after you pass under the railroad tracks the entrance is on the left (East) side of the road. It costs a couple of bucks per car load to get in the park.
