Vocabulary:
  • landscape
  • cityscape
  • skyline

    Step one
Take a piece of black construction paper. Draw a skyline from one side to the other. It could be a mountain skyline, a desert skyline, or an island/ocean skyline. Cut on this line so you have a silhouette of your landscape.

    Step Two
Place either half of your paper on another color of construction paper. You could use green, blue, yellow, orange - virtually any other color depending on the effect you want to achieve.

    Step Three
Cut out other shapes to represent windows in buildings, leaves on trees, waves, stars, or even the blazing sun.

    Step four
When you have all the shapes cut out you are ready to glue them down. Think about which shapes should be behind others. Arrange all your pieces before you begin gluing. Glue the bottom layer first. Then add the next layer and finally the top.

    Reflection
Are you pleased with the results? What other details could you use? What would happen if you added other shapes and colors to your collage?
