What should your family be doing now to prepare for an attack? Do your children know where to go if you can't get to them? What emergency supplies should you have on hand? More than anything, you need a plan.
After touring the devastation in New York, Vice President Dick Cheney warned Americans to expect more attacks as the war against terrorism continued "on course."
E-Bombs Could Spell Digital Doomsday - Weapons Could Cripple Our Tech-Dependent Nation.
E-bombs go after electronic devices — computers, radios, telephones, and almost anything that uses transistors, circuits, and wiring.
Global atomic agency confesses little can be done to safeguard nuclear plants from a direct hit from a missile or an aircraft.
Most nuclear plans were built during the 1960s and 1970s, and like the World Trade Center, were designed to withstand only accidental, glancing impacts from the smaller aircraft widely used at the time. A direct hit of a nuclear plant by a modern jumbo jet traveling at high speed "could create a Chernobyl situation" . However, the buildings that house nuclear reactors themselves are far smaller targets than the Pentagon posed, and it would be extremely difficult for a terrorist to mount a direct hit at an angle that could unleash a catastrophic chain of events. The U.S. has 104 commercial reactors.
EARTH CHANGES -
By the year 2080, Manhattan and Shanghai could be underwater, droughts and floods could become more extreme and hundreds of millions of people will be at risk from disease, starvation and water shortages.
The worst drought in a century in Australia has played havoc with the birds and the
bees this year. It's an extremely peculiar season. The sort of conditions they've had has promoted things like odd flowering and fruiting and seeding cycles in native plants.
Mysterious shift in Earth's gravity suggests equator is bulging -
Something strange has been going on under our feet for the past four years. Earth's gravity field suddenly shifted gears and began getting flatter, reversing a course of centuries during which the planet and its gravity field grew rounder each year.
Tuvalu comprises nine low-lying coral atolls in the Pacific Ocean between
Australia and Hawaii and its HIGHEST point is just 15 feet above sea level.
Besides the possiblility that the islands may be covered by the rising sea
levels, global warming is causing
"> more deadly
cyclones at odd times of the year. Tuvalu's seasons are changing, throwing
off the island's agricultural schedule and damaging the marine ecosystem
that many depend on for their livelihoods.
Over the past few months, (June and July 2002) earth's weather has displayed some exceptional extremes. Devastating floods have occurred in Texas, Bangladesh and Russia while extraordinary drought has caused wildfires across the western and southern US and parts of central and eastern Canada. Bejing has been invaded by swarms of locusts and giant hailstones have killed at least 15 people in central China. A third of Bangladesh has been flooded.
Giant ocean waves could slam into the East Coast if a volcano across the Atlantic in the Canary Islands splits open, two scientists warn.
The Cumbre Vieja volcano last erupted in 1949. It hasn't shown any recent indications of activity, but the threat could become real someday.
Mount Etna Volcano is gaining power - Researchers say they think Europe's most active volcano is undergoing a gradual but fundamental change in its volcanism. And they say that means Etna's eruptions will get more violent.
In India in August there was an outburst of extreme weather weirdness. First,
red rain fell, shortly followed by a horde of unfamiliar black insects. It caused panic in Kerala state. The rain was attributed to dust from a meteor exploding over the area, and nobody could explain the bugs. However, there have been odd phenomena on the ground in Kerala all month, taking the form of well levels rising and falling very rapidly.
A "strange, nonsensical winter" with early snow followed by rain and sun apparently has made for dangerously deceiving conditions in the southern Alps with almost invisible ice.
U.S. 2000 Weather Highlights:
First, there was the balmy month of January — the warmest ever recorded in the United States. Spring followed with more tepid temperatures, registering as the second warmest on record. Then Mother Nature intervened: severe droughts in the South, heat waves simmering across the South and western United States and a rash of wildfires in the West — the worst spate of wildfires in 50 years. Meanwhile Northeasterners endured a cool, soggy summer. an increase in extremes in the last 100 years.
Some of the more memorable weather from this year include:
States in the Deep South (Florida, Georgia., Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana) experienced the driest May-October ever.
Lands in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Arizona, Louisiana, and Mississippi were parched under the driest July- Sept. ever on record. By November, torrential rainfall flooded the region during the wettest November ever in the region.
Widespread drought led to one of the worst wildfire season in 50 years, consuming more than 7 million acres of forests and grasslands, mostly in Western states.
In Pennsylvania and West Virginia, July registered as the coolest on record. In New York, the month was the second coolest in 100 years.
The U.S. Atlantic hurricane season was above average for the third straight year in a row with 16 strong to violent tornadoes occurring between March and August.
December 10, 2000 - Plants are blooming in winter in England! The temperatures are soaring.
It's more like autumn than winter. And there's no sign of anything colder coming along.
According to the forecasters, warm gusts blowing up from the southern Atlantic are responsible for the higher temperatures in which roses, normally subject to frost by this time of year, are thriving. Other plants, including gentians, not due until spring, were already flowering. It isn't normal for these plants to be blooming at this time of year.
Fauna as well as flora have been affected as thermometer levels remain high. A fish from West Africa, the foot-long zebra sea bream, was recently caught off the coast near Portland in Dorset - the first to be recorded in British waters. It follows reportings of portuguese man o'war jellyfish, tropical mantis shrimps and exotic sunfish off the South coast.
British weathermen are claiming December could be the warmest for 20 years.
Climate Change Sparks Fears from the U.N. Oct. 12, 2000 —"Recent severe climate shifts in several parts of the world may be a sign that more profound changes are underway for the world's weather, according to a top meteorologist for the United Nations.
Michael Coughlan from the World Meteorological Organization's headquarters in Geneva told reporters, "The fact you have floods in the south of Asia and drought to the north suggests some sort of systemic climate shift."
Line of Waterspouts off Coast of Maine - Oct. 10, 2000 — Fishermen off the coast of Maine last Sunday witnessed the rare sight of 15 waterspouts that appeared within the space of an hour and a half. The funnel clouds, which are more common in the tropics during warmer weather, lasted as long as 25 minutes. They were definitely an uncommon occurrence for the area this time of year.
The hole in the ozone layer is now three times larger than the United States - its biggest size ever, scientists at NASA said Friday. U.N. weather experts said the hole over the Antarctic is growing earlier in the year than usual.
"Nineteen ninety eight was a banner year for anomalous weather. In late March, snow fell in New York's Central Park, but just nine days later thermometers registered temperatures of 68 degrees Fahrenheit. In June, Britt, Iowa experienced six inches of rain in only two hours. Deluges in Southern California brought home invasions of reptiles, rodents and insects, while heavy rains also caused swarms of pale-wing grasshoppers to descend on Bullhead City, Arizona. As part of an ongoing heat wave that shows no signs of dissipating, temperatures hit 124 degrees in India, and 117 in Texas, and even chilly Switzerland recorded a highly unusual 95.
The crazy weather has continued right into 2000, but such extreme events are only part of the picture. E's piece documents dramatic and permanent environmental changes. Sea level is rising in the Pacific, inundating small islands and threatening larger ones. Reefs around the world are dying from coral bleaching. Coastal resorts from New Jersey to Antigua are losing their beaches, and making a desperate attempt to hold back a restless sea. The populations of California's tidal pools and Washington State's glacial slopes are changing dramatically. In the Antarctic, huge ice floes the size of American states are breaking off, and insect pests are killing the great coniferous forests of Alaska. Coastal cities like New York are battening down the hatches, and giant ozone clouds hide the Indian Ocean in gloom." ( E magazine article)
RECORD-BREAKING NATURAL DISASTERS FROM 1999 - 2002
ODDITIES -
Curious coincidences are cropping up between Apollo 13 and NASA's current shuttle mission, STS-113. Long time space cadets are beginning to point out the growing number of similarities between events associated with the ill-fated Apollo 13 lunar landing mission and NASA's current shuttle Endeavour mission, which carries the designation STS-113.
The most dramatic and spectacular Mars apparition you or any of your ancestors has ever had a chance to see -
In 2003, Mars will be closer to Earth than it has ever been in recorded history.
Mars, the Red Planet, is getting progressively closer to Earth with each passing night, and consequently it will slowly appear to grow larger and brighter. By late August 2003, when it will be about 191 million miles closer, the reddish point of light in our night sky will appear more than six times larger and shine some 85 times brighter than it appears now. This will be the closest that Mars has come to our planet in about 73,000 years.
Call it a conspiracy (or savvy marketing), but a new poll released this week says a majority of Americans think the truth about unidentified flying objects is out there, yet the government is concealing it from them.
The birth of a 'miracle mule' -
Residents of a small Moroccan hamlet are hailing the arrival of a mule
born to a mule.
New questions are being raised about an ancient burial box that some
experts consider to be the best physical evidence of the existence of
Jesus. Experts are questioning its authenticity.
Investigators have been asked to prove if a weeping statue of the Virgin Mary in Western Australia is an act of God or a fake religious curiosity.
The inquiry into the "miracle" is unprecedented in Australia.
Scientists from two universities have already tested the 70cm sculpture, but were unable to find the source of the rose-scented oil that trickles from its eyes.
You may not need psychic powers to convince people they are communicating with the dead - just some well-chosen questions and a sensitivity to the audience's reaction.
It's bad enough to be undead. But what if you're damned for all eternity to a dump? Haunted tollbooths, apparitions in trailer parks, a mysterious pile of shoes, and laundromat spooks.
What Really Happened to Flight 93? There are important differences between what at least 6 witnesses who saw the crash of United Flight 93 over Pennsylvania on September 11, 2001 have described, and what the media has reported. Specifically, there appears to have been a military jet in the area at the time that Flight 93 went down. It may have shot Flight 93 down on presidential orders - obviously one of the most heart-rending decisions any president would ever have had to make. Among other evidence, one of the passengers on the plane made the last mobile phone contact from the plane, he called 911 and said that there had been an explosion of some sort. The debris was also scattered over a wider area than we have been lead to believe.
Worldwide, the UFO phenomenon is extremely active, unusually so. Not only are sightings up, so are close encounters, especially unusual and dangerous ones. In August, in the Indian state of Utar Pradesh, thousands of people rioted after a brightly lit object on numerous occasions dropped down at night over roofs where people were sleeping, and burned them, in some cases severely. Officials dismissed the phenomenon as ball lightning, but descriptions of the UFO are strikingly similar to descriptions of the brightly lit UFO that haunted the Hudson Valley in upstate New York in the early eighties, and was videotaped in that area.
In Greece over the course of the summer, farmers protested that their crops were being ruined by UFOs, and in Argentina there have been over 400 cattle mutilations this summer. Most recently, 19 cattle were found in a closed water tank, with no idea of how they could have gotten in - short of being dropped by a crane. Nine of the cattle were rescued. The rest drowned.
These cases are very different from the great majority of previous UFO cases. They indicate a rising level of violence and menace in this complex phenomenon.
Reports of a flashing space creature, or maybe a mutant bug that glows at both ends, have created panic in India's most populous state in August 2002, triggering riots and lynchings that have killed more than a dozen people. Victims report being scratched by something flashing blue, red or green that strikes only at faces and only at night. The creature has been dubbed "Muhnochwa," or "face-clawing monster." Witnesses describe the Muhnochwa variously as a creature or an object, shaped like a football, or a tortoise.
The attacks come a year after parts of neighboring Bihar state reported attacks by a mysterious "monkey-man," black and ape-like with large claws and, some witnesses said, sparkling red and blue lights. Those attacks in turn came exactly a year after a similar creature terrorized New Delhi.
Several people in India claim they have been terrorized by a two-foot-high unidentified flying object, which comes in the night, resembles a flying sphere emitting red and blue lights and attacks villagers leaving its victims with extensive burns or even dead. The police have another explanation: bugs."It is a three-and-a-half-inch-long winged insect" that leaves rashes and superficial wounds a superintendent of police says. Police drew this conclusion after residents of one village found insects they had never seen before. Villagers are unconvinced and have formed protection squads to patrol their villages.
Investigation casts light on the mysterious flying Black Triangle -
They are big, black, and triangular. In UFO folklore they are proof-positive that planet Earth is a rest stop for joyriding extraterrestrials. NIDS researchers contend that these type vehicles are lighter-than-air, blimp-style craft of the U.S. military's making. Likely powered by "electrokinetic" drive, the lifting body-shaped airships have been skirting the skies from perhaps the early to mid 1980s.
The world may learn once and for all whether the Loch Ness Monster really exists on September 2. A self-proclaimed "white witch high priest" from Hastings, England, plans to visit the Scottish lake on that day and perform a ritual he claims will raise Nessie from her watery hide-out. Kevin Carlyon believes the legendary creature is really a ghost, and says he'll be summoning her spirit for onlookers with a one-hour-long spell. The whole event will be webcast at Nessie On The Net.
Two extraordinary UFO events have taken place in one week. The first was in the town of Campamento Vesupucio in Argentina. According to the Argentinian newspaper "El Tribuno," a large, round, intensely bright object hovered motionless over the town for forty minutes on Monday, July 22, 2002, between 8:50 and 9:30 PM. Phones stopped working and a number of cars went dead during the event, which was witnessed by most people in the town. The object shot away at high speed.
A few nights later a phenomenal UFO display was witnessed by residents living around Andrews AFB in the United States. At 2 AM on the morning of July 26, witnesses observed a large blue ball of light streaking across the sky above Andrews, chased by jets. A number of witnesses called local radio station WTOP to report the incident, which came just days after the anniversary of one of history's greatest UFO events, the Washington overflights that took place in 1952.

UFO activity is expected to rise in 2003, with the greatest concentration of sightings taking place in late August of next year. Some members of the remote viewing community are suggesting that a major event is coming. On July 21, the Washington Post published an earnest, well-researched report about the famous 1952 UFO overflights of Washington, D.C. Rather than make a joke of it all, they reported the event and reactions to it honestly. We are likely to see more widespread and open displays of UFOs, crop circles and related phenomena in 2003, possibly dramatic enough to lead scientists to speculate seriously, or even conclude, that somebody is here.
China scientists may have extraterrestrial artifact -
Chinese scientists have just announced that they are studying an object shaped like a pyramid that they believe may have been created by extraterrestrials in ancient times. The structure is 165-198 feet tall and is on top of Mount Baigong.
Experts are suggesting that the object could have been a launch tower for a spacecraft. Pipes have been found in the area that are partly made of unidentifiable substances. The pipes are very old. They are being studied by a group of nine scientists.
'Unidentified Floating Object' washes up on South Carolina shore - The silver orb weighs several hundred pounds and measures three feet in diameter, it is metal, and has numbers on it. Authorities marked off an area around the orb with crime-scene tape and tried to identify it. They turned to members of the Air Force bomb squad, the Coast Guard and state officials for help, but no one could identify the strange object.
For over forty years, astronomers have been searching the skies with radio telescopes, looking for signs of intelligent life around distant stars. It's possible that the search will continue for centuries, with no indication that intelligence exists beyond Earth. It's also possible that astronomers will detect ET tomorrow. What then? What will we do if we succeed?
Some see an image of Satan in a photo of the burning World Trade Center. The photo, with added contrast, reveals a face-like figure at the lower portion of the black smoke.
CD cover art appears to prophesy World Trade Center attack -
In light of the tragedy in New York, the music industry is putting a hold on album covers that depict disasters in the New York area. In a bizarre twist, the Hip-Hop Band, The Coup, stopped the presses on the cover for its soon-to-be released album, Party Music. The cover, which was to go to press this week, depicted the twin towers of the World Trade Center exploding. Those who saw the cover art said the explosions were in the same area of the towers that were struck by the terrorist attack.
Some see an image of Satan in a photo of the burning World Trade Center. The photo, with added contrast, reveals a face-like figure at the lower portion of the black smoke.
Scientist hopes to nail down strange noises - Mysterious sounds reported as far back as 1850s in N. Carolina. There is no explanation for the sounds, at least not one on which everyone agrees.
Some say the rumbling is a sonic boom created by unseen aircraft. Others suggest top-secret military training offshore or maybe the earth moving on the ocean floor or deep below ground.
Then there are the theories that gave the phenomenon its name, the Seneca Guns -- that the sound comes from the ghosts of American Indians firing guns to disturb descendants of those who drove them from their land.
JULY 2001:
A fascinating story appeared on Unknowncountry.com: there is a lot of UFO activity in Scotland, in the immediate area of Rosslyn Chapel, now the greatest remaining Knight's Templar shrine in the world. Why UFO activity in Mexico and Scotland, and Crop Circle activity in England, seems to concentrate around ancient sites is unknown. But there is some sort of connection, and it's probably the key to the whole thing.
Experts Probe Meaning of New Jersey Lights - July 19 — A set of golden lights hovering silently in the night sky in a "V" formation stopped traffic on the New Jersey Turnpike, but were the drivers seeing visitors from outer space or just a set of military flares flaming out?
Unusual occurrences are said to happen at 335 Laurier Ave. in Ottawa, Canada, the one-time home of two former prime ministers, Sir Wilfrid Laurier and William Lyon Mackenzie King. Laurier and his wife both died in the home, while King held many seances in his dark attic study.

What Is the Eltanin Antenna?
"In 1964, the National Science Foundation Polar Research Vessel Eltanin photographed an unusual object at a depth of 13,500 below the south Atlantic. It appeared to be some sort of antenna rising from the sea floor. Although it was dismissed as a 'marine organism,' it does not appear to be a natural object. The central pole has spokes radiating from it at fifteen degree angles from each other, with spheres on the end. A small structure caps the vertical pole of the object.
Strangely, earthquake stations and antarctic bases have been built in a regular pattern around this object. And yet, we had no vessel capable of reaching a depth of 13,500 feet in 1964, so it is hard to see how the object could have been placed there by any known means. And if it is a classified object, why did the officers of the Eltanin even release the photo? "

Oct. 13, 2000 - Is doomsday just around the corner? "Terror in the Gulf, war in the Middle East, panic on Wall Street, crisis at the gas pump, a viral scare on the East Coast, labor unrest in the west . . . either the world events of the past 24 hours are just a coincidental skid of bad news or, on this very day - the unlucky last Friday the 13th of the millennium - we are doomed."
Spanish Waterspout Gushes Nonstop - Sept. 6, 2000 — A huge column of red water has been spewing from Spanish soil for almost six weeks, baffling geologists who have no explanation for the phenomenon. The 100-foot-high gusher of reddish water, mixed with soil and carbon dioxide, is being shot from the parched soil of La Mancha in central Spain at the rate of 13 gallons per second.
The water burst forth on July 25, as olive growers in the city of Granatula de Calatrava were deepening an existing well. They initially tried unsuccessfully to stop the flow of water by piling rocks over the opening.
Geologists studying the site say that it is definitely not a geyser, because it is not an intermittent event and the water is cool. Enrique Calleja, director of hydrology for the Castilla-La Mancha regional government, also emphasized that the region has not seen a volcano in hundreds of thousands of years. He explained that the spout is probably caused by an aquifer, a water-bearing layer of rock or sand. Aquifers typically are of great volume and under tremendous pressure.
The water, which is emanating from a hole 460 feet deep, has shown no sign of diminishing. Calleja said, "I've never heard of anything of this intensity in Spain, Europe or anywhere else for that matter." Geologists cautioned the masses of people flocking to the site to keep a safe distance, as the highly concentrated amounts of carbon dioxide could be toxic. They also warned of the possibility of rocks being shot forth in the spout.
