Nostradamus's Predictions

NOSTRADAMUS was a visionary who wrote cryptic quatrains ( 4 line verses) of his predictions. Among other things, devotees believe that he foretold the periscope, the submarine, the airplane and atomic warfare.

NOSTRADAMUS is interpreted by many to have predicted Armageddon arriving in July of 1999. A great king of terror was supposed to descend from the sky to damage or destroy the New City. But which city is that? New York? New Orleans? Los Angeles, as it is younger and therefore newer? Is it even a city in the U.S.? Nobody knew for sure and no cities were destroyed.

In the year 1999 (and) seven months,
From the sky will come a great King of Terror
He will resurrect the great King of Angelmois
Before and afterwards Mars rules happily.

Implications for us: Nostradamus wrote almost exclusively about the royalty of France, England and Europe. Most of Nostradamus's predictions have already been fulfilled over the last 432 years since he died in 1566. He seems to have made only a few predictions about America. In truth, America wasn't even known by that name in Nostradamus's time.
Even if the terror had occurred somewhere in July of 1999, Nostradamus also says that the forces of good ultimately will triumph over evil. The next 1000 years will then be one of peace for those who survive. Nostradamus also predicted that in 2002 a great spiritual king would be anointed (recognized). This seems to be good news for our near future!
Nostradamus does predict that the earth will be wiped out...but not until 3755 when asteroids hit Earth and fire storms consume the surface. Then in 3797 the Earth will be consumed by an expanding sun and cease to exist. You don't have to worry about that unless you plan to live for over 1700 more years!

Did Nostradamus Predict the Tragedy? There are a number of "spooky quatrains" circulating by email that are demonstrably fake. It isn't a question of whether or not they accurately predict anything - Nostradamus simply didn't write them.

Another interpretation of Nostradamus's predictions in light of the New York bombing - from author John Hogue:
"This is some of what I understand is in the prophecies of Nostradamus concerning present and near future events. He spoke of a new type of world war to come; one using surprise and ambush. A rogue leader from the Mideast will trigger it. He is a terrorist, code named in the prophecies as "Mabus" or the "Third Antichrist." This man will be one of the first to fall in his war. He could become a symbolic martyr for terrorists who will soak the world with blood for 27 years. Nostradamus spoke of the great new city made of high "hollow mountains" near the garden of the world. The state of New Jersey, from whose shore one can view the great hollow mountains of New York City, is known as “The Garden State.” In two of Nostradamus’ prophecies a thing his 16-century mind can only call “it” cuts a path to these hollow mountains. They are then seized and boiled in a cauldron...Over four centuries ago, Nostradamus may have seen those great hollow mountains hit by a huge, "scattered flame." He implied that the flame could not be put out and the smoke and debris would rise and ferment in boiling clouds, as if they were “plunged in a vat.” What is next for us? If my interpretations are correct we will soon know who the perpetrator — this Third Antichrist — is. If “Mabus” stands as an anagram for Saddam Hussein or Usama Bin Laden or someone we have yet to uncover, look for his death very soon in a retaliatory attack. If a more balanced American foreign policy in Mideast affairs is not forthcoming after the Antichrist falls, then the war is only beginning. America and her allies will endure almost thirty years of terror bombings and catastrophic loss of life... I would like to add that there are a number of spurious and bogus prophecies of Nostradamus surfacing concerning “York’s” destruction, etc. These frauds are mixing lines out of context from several authentic Nostradamus quatrains with phrases that are complete fabrications. JULY 1999:
One of Nostradamus' most date-specific predictions, declares that a "great king of terror" would come from the sky in 1999. Many interpretations were made for 1999 and yet nothing of significance occurred in July of 1999.

Some said this prediction could refer to the increasing awareness of a long-term event rather than the Antichrist. The event could be global warming. Certainly in the next 20 or 30 years, if that continues, you don't need a third Antichrist. According to some, you've got it - the real Antichrist may be human stupidity.

Six weeks after incorrectly predicting that Paris would be destroyed by the Mir Space Station, an ambarrassed Paco Rabanne owned up to making "a huge blunder". This summer the Paris fashion designer warned people that the City of Lights would be engulfed in flames after being hit by Mir during the solar eclipse on August 11. His prediction was based on his interpretation of the work of Nostradamus.

Japan's many doomsayers thought the world would come to an end within weeks or days.

(Especially interesting, although proved to be wrong, is the interpretation of the King of Terror possibly being "the Cassini spacecraft, a probe on its way to Saturn, that will fly by the Earth on August 18. Cassini has been controversial since before its launch in October 1997 because it is powered by over 72 pounds of highly toxic plutonium dioxide. Should Cassini errantly enter our atmosphere and break up, the dispersal of the plutonium could be devastating to life on the planet. NASA says that the chances of that happening are minuscule. One more interesting note: August 18 is the 666th day since Cassini’s launch".)

Repent: The world will end today (maybe) - it didn't!!

July 7, 1999 - A car-sized meteor speed over New Zealand today and burst in mid-air, leaving a cloud of dust in the sky. Video of the cloud was widely telecast on the evening news....Is this a near-miss for Nostradamus's King-of-Terror-from-the-Sky prediction? He mentioned the 'new city' and this occurred in New Zealand. If the meteor had not exploded before hitting the ground, it could have been a very serious catastrophe.



STEVEN SPIELBERG STATES in the June Premiere magazine, "OH, I'M TERRIFIED OF Y2K. I THINK IT'S NOSTRADAMUS'S FINAL PREDICTION COMING TRUE." Spielberg didn't want to have a small movie coming out as Y2K approaches - "It would have been smothered by all the [entertainment] we'll be offered between October and January [from Y2K]".

MAY 1999 - "According to some newspaper stories, Nostradamus predicts that World War III will start in July 1999 in the Balkans, last for seven months and end in victory for a group of nations, countries we know as NATO.
Willie Breytenbach, a political science professor, told a newspaper in Glasgow, Scotland, that Nostradamus clearly predicts the war will start during the period of Cancer - between June 22 and July 23 - and in a triangle bordered by Greece, Italy and Turkey, which is the Balkans. There is also a mention of the other countries becoming involved in the conflict, and a great loss of life occurring.
Here is the quatrain that believers say predicts the current war, which will escalate into a World War.

In the year 1999 (and) seven months,

According to Breytenbach, the King of Angelmois refers to Genghis Khan and the King of Terror is someone who will act like a Genghis Khan and kill millions of people, according to text interpreters. The terror from the sky they say, is nuclear weaponry. Breytenbach said he was a skeptic until he took a closer look at the work of Nostradamus.
There he found additional references to the current Balkan conflict, including mentions of the Slav people and a tyrant whose name begins with the letter "M". Yugoslavia's president is named Slobodan Milosevic. [The name Nostradamus mentions is actually 'Mabbus', which others have previously identified as 'Saddam' backwards.]
There is also a reference to three years and seven months of peace before the war. Breytenbach told the newspaper that he suddenly realized that the Dayton peace accord was signed Nov. 21, 1995 and that adding three years and seven months to that brings us to the end of June 1999. But that Nostradamus passage is open to other interpretations. An alternative is that an alien being (King of Terror) will descend from the sky, destroying and enslaving humankind.
Neither forecast is a pleasant prospect. But the accuracy of Nostradamus on this issue is likely to be known before the occurrence of a possible Y2K calamity of the new year."
