Emanuel Swedenborg

In the 1700s, EMANUEL SWEDENBORG, a brillant Swedish scientist and later a theologian, claimed to have undergone powerful experiences in which he received visions from God. He was one of the early icons of the spiritualist movement. His visions were mainly concerned with apocalypticism.
