Edgar Cayce's Predictions
Cayce was a modern clairvoyant who was able to diagnose diseases and treatment through a trance-like state.
Edgar Cayce predicted that flooding of the coasts worldwide would begin in 1998.
IMPLICATIONS FOR US: There is a good deal of scientific concern that the coastal areas around the world ARE in danger of flooding. With the rapid melt of glaciers and thawing of perma-frost there is a real danger of raising the sea level significantly. Several tropical islands are already seeing their beaches disappearing from the slowly rising seas, and trees along the shores have been toppling into the ocean. Cayce appears to be right on target with this prediction.
UPDATE: In March of 1999 scientists report that the thickness of glaciers in Greenland is declining by as much as 3 feet a year.
On December 31, 1998 Italy's ministers rejected a proposal to build floodgates to shelter the city of Venice from the rising Adriatic Sea. Venice is suffering from increasing flooding which threatens the city's treasures and tourism. They will instead raise the foundations of buildings and pavements.
In November of 1998 an iceberg larger than the state of Delaware broke off an Antarctic shelf. It is seen as a possible indicator that the massive ice shelves are disintegrating as a result of global warming. Scientists fear that a collapse of the ice shelves that surround Antarctica would significantly raise sea levels and flood coastal areas around the globe. The 'calving' of icebergs on the large scale of the event at the Ronne Ice Shelf is one of the predicted early consequences of global warming.
Cayce prophesied that by 1998 California's coastline would be changed, most of Japan would disappear into the sea, new land would rise off the American east coast, and the Arctic and Antarctic regions would turn tropical.
Implications: While some of these predictions could still happen as a result of global warming, they certainly haven't happened by 1998.
Cyace predicted that Atlantis would rise again from the Bahamas area of the Caribbean.
Update: Atlantis IS rising - although not in the way one would expect. A massive $480 million dollar Atlantis resort has been built on Paradise Island in the Bahamas. It features a Mayan-type temple, the world's largest aquarium, a casino, a faux-Atlantean archaeological dig, a 60 foot water-slide (into an acrylic tube running through a shark-infested tank) and 3 massive hotels with water cascading continually down the outside walls to appear as if it has just risen intact out of the ocean. Is this the reappearance of Atlantis that Cayce had forseen?
